Apple’s refresh of the iPad sees the expected upgrades to the screen, processor, and battery life, but adds support for accessories originally developed for the iPad Pro. The new iPad now has support for the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil, which can be purchased separately.
As Apple continues to push to be seen as a services company rather than a hardware company, a key selling point for the new iPad is the ecosystem it resides within. This means the iPad comes with a year subscription to AppleTV+ streaming service. It also supports pairing with PS4 and Xbox controllers for gaming with services like Apple Arcade.
Apple’s September 15 event also saw the launch of the new iPad, as well as the Apple Watch Series 6 and SE, Fitness+ app, updated iPad Air, and teased their new service, Apple One.
